Abstract

Rare Case of Hemolytic Disease of the Fetus and Newborn Due to Anti-Dib Antibody by Yang Jing, Chen Jian, Yang Liyan

Background: Anti-Dib is a rare high-frequency antigen-antibody. Reports of hemolytic disease of the fetus and newborn (HDFN) caused by anti-Dib are scarce.
Methods: We present the case of a pregnant patient who developed an alloantibody with anti-Dib specificity. To prepare for potential complications, the patient underwent predeposit autologous blood donation at 36 weeks of gestation.
Results: The newborn developed HDFN due to maternal alloantibodies; however, the clinical symptoms were mild. After receiving supportive care and phototherapy for hyperbilirubinemia, the infant was discharged in good health.
Conclusions: This case underscores the importance of screening for irregular antibodies in pregnant women and ensuring an adequate blood supply for those with rare blood types.
